If you and your partner (and soon-to-be brand-new spouse!) are the thrill-seeking adventure types, you might be looking for the best adventure honeymoon destinations. Some even have opportunities to get your adrenaline pumping in new and exciting ways. But, as with all types of travel, it can be especially difficult to choose a honeymoon destination. Hopefully, this list of activities and locations for adventure-loving duos will help you pick the perfect honeymoon destination:
Zipline & Canopy Tour inImagine this: You’re gliding over the canopy of native forests in New Zealand in awe of the beautiful national parks this destination holds. Skydiving inIf you ask us, one of the most adrenaline-filled adventures you can embark on is skydiving. Interlaken is known as a hub for adventure seekers of all sorts, but especially skydiving enthusiasts. Why? Located in the Swiss Alps, you’ll get views of one of the most stunning mountain ranges in the world. You might even spot Italy, France, Germany, and Austria–depending on your dive height. It is a truly epic encounter, and not one for the faint of heart. If you’re a true adventure enthusiast, why not take an adventurous honeymoon to match?
Plus, there are a number of other outdoor activities available to you in Interlaken, including hang gliding, paragliding, kayaking, rafting, and jet boating, so you’ll be able to keep your blood pumping for your entire trip, if you’re so inclined.
If you’re a skier, your honeymoon is one of the best trips to take it to the next level…with heli-skiing. What is heli-skiing, you ask? It’s off-trail downhill skiing, accessed by helicopter rather than chairlift, which means you can access much more remote (and often much more adventurous terrains) than you can at a resort. And perhaps one of the best places to heli-ski in the world is in Chile.
“Powderhounds”, or hardcore skiing enthusiasts, visit to Powder South, Chile for the altitude, snow quality, and breathtaking views of the Andes mountains. While some heli-skiing excursions require you to be an expert skier, you can find terrain for all levels of ability at Powder South, as well as world-class guides to take you on your adventure safely. In between hitting the slopes, you can stay at a luxurious lodge nestled in the mountains. And don’t forget to enjoy delicious Chilean food to round out the adventure at this honeymoon destination! Trekking Mount Everest inTo many, the ultimate adventure is hiking Mount Everest in Nepal. The expedition will likely take you around 20 days, depending on the group you go with, so this one is for adventurous honeymooners with some PTO to spare and an adventurous spirit.
Before you depart on your adventure, take a couple of days to visit Kathmandu. Spend some time taking in its history and cuisine, learning about its Sherpa culture, and perusing its monasteries. Then, get ready to embark on the hike of a lifetime, trekking 17,590 feet to your base camp destination. You’ll have to prep with your group before you take off and then your Sherpa will guide the whole crew safely. It’s a physical feat, but one that’s well worth it for the second-to-none views and adventure. Just to be extra cautious. We also highly recommend that you try a canopy tour through the Montezuma Waterfall. No matter which route you choose, you’ll find some kind of adventure against an impressive backdrop, from horseback riding to whitewater rafting to rainforest hiking to sea kayaking, and more! If you need a day to relax, we suggest hitting up one of Costa Rica’s beautiful beaches for a romantic time with your partner. It’s the perfect honeymoon destination to mix adventure and relaxation.
